UNHRD’s Dubai depot is located in the International Humanitarian City (IHC), an independent free zone created by the Government of Dubai to support humanitarian operations and the development community. It is in close proximity to the new airport Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum and the port of Mina Jabal Ali. The depot was built in 2008 and made available to UNHRD by the Government of Dubai.
The UN Humanitarian Response Depot in Dubai plays a leading role in emergency preparedness and response worldwide. It was built in 2008 and is generously made available by the Government of the United Arab Emirates.
In 2016, Partners using UNHRD’s Dubai depot included: ACF, ADRA, CARE, Catholic Relief Service, Cooperazione Italiana, Handicap International, IOM, International Rescue Committee, INTERSOS, Irish Aid, Lutheran World Relief, Norwegian Chruch Aid, Save the Children, ShelterBox, UNDP, UNICEF, WFP, WeltHungerHilfe, WHO, and World Vision International. In 2016, the Dubai depot dispatched USD 25 million worth of emergency equipment and relief items on behalf of 22 Partners, supporting humanitarian interventions in 42 countries.
