Operational snapshot: Afghanistan earthquake

After a devastating 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan on 31 August, over 56,000 people were left homeless, with thousands injured.

UNHRD facilitated the delivery of 253.3 metric tons of relief supplies and lifesaving items — including shelter items, hygiene kits, medical kits and kitchen sets - from its Dubai hub to Afghanistan.

The cargo was dispatched on behalf of several UN and humanitarian partners and transportation costs have been sponsored by DG ECHO’s Emergency Response Coordination Center and Dubai Humanitarian (in-kind flights).
