Operational snapshot: Hurricane Melissa

Hurricane Melissa struck the Caribbean in late October 2025, causing widespread destruction and claiming more than 50 lives across Jamaica, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.

To support humanitarian operations in the region and assist affected communities, UNHRD facilitated the delivery of 239 metric tons of relief supplies and lifesaving items on behalf of 10 humanitarian partners from its Panama hub to Cuba, Haiti, and Jamaica.

UNHRD capacity to respond was further strengthened thanks to the generous support of the European Union Humanitarian Air Bridge sponsored by European Union Humanitarian Aid, which covered transportation costs for eight charter flights.
